Topeka Reviews

I like the small town feel of Topeka. There are several local restaurants and everything is within 30 minutes drive. Topeka has the Evergy Plaza downtown which offers a small water park during the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter. They also have free outdoor concerts/movies in the summer along with food trucks.
Some things I would like to see change are the homeless population and the conditions of the roads. The homeless population is huge in Topeka even with the numerous programs and agencies that assist with this population to include MAP (mobile shower unit) with laundry, clothing and hygiene. There are homeless camps on every side of town and a person with a sign asking for money at many traffic intersections. The second thing I would like to see change is the road conditions. Since moving to Topeka, I have had to replace several tires, shocks/suspension and even an axel. This is the capitol city of Kansas, let's do better!

Topeka is a developing city in my opinion. In comparison to the surrounding cities such as Lawrence and Kansas City, it has much work to do in commercializing. Although it is not a huge city, it is also not small enough to be characterized by one community. It is quite diverse which is great.
I liked how many things there used to be, especially in places like the mall. Topeka used to be fun and more alive as a kid. Most things that were worth doing have since shut down. Its not like it used to be.
