Rico Reviews
Rating 5 out of 5 2 reviews
Being able to live in a tiny town of 200 to 300 people while still being close to Telluride is the best. You can have your solitude, but when you need a dose of humanity, just drive to Telluride, Montrose, Cortez, or Durango. The Western Slope beats the Front Range. Folks that finally make it out here to the Southwest are in awe of the San Juan Mountain’s beauty. Moab Utah is less than 3 hours away when we need a change of scenery and climate. If you are lucky enough to be able to make a living out here, there is no place more peaceful to live. We also have a healthy mix of left and right wingers, and everything in between, we all seem to somehow get along. Seasoned home owners STAY AWAY, we want a community… not a tourist town!
Rico is a fun and affordable place to live in the beautiful San Juan mountains. most residents here drive 28 miles to work in Telluride. There is no school in Rico, but all Rico kids can go to Telluride public schools, which are great. you should own an AWD or 4x4 vehicle, but there is also public transit to Telluride. we like to shop every two weeks in nearby Cortez. There is world class fly fishing in the Dolores river, biking, Xcountry, and hiking trails. If you don’t mind a little isolation from the human race, immerse yourself in the natural wonders that surround this wonderful little hamlet!
