I live in Downtown Lancaster and love it a lot because it is easily walkable and there are so many places to eat, shop or take care of any needs you have. Outside of town in the suburbs is also very accessible due to the city bus that goes all over the entire county. It is very kid and pet friendly as well. I see why people have lived here for so long or most of their lives. It's not a major city but an hour and a half from Philadelphia and the Baltimore/DC area. Lots of fun things to do and small businesses to support as well. I also love how there are so many public parks to do things in. Everyone here is super friendly and welcoming. Also lots of job opportunities; it didn't take me long to find a job after living here for a short while. I highly recommend moving to Lancaster like I did or just visiting!
I was born and raised in Lancaster my entire life. For me Lancaster is the greatest city in America and is the place I am honored to call home. From the the melting pot of cultures you find in the city to the unique Amish life style just a bit outside the city there is nothing to not enjoy about Lancaster. There's a reason The annual Best Places to Retire in the U.S. list named Lancaster, as the No. 1 place to retire in 2023. I am proud to be able to say I am from Lancaster and see myself continuing to grow and live here!
I like living in the suburbs of Lancaster because it is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. It also helps that most places are within 20 minutes of each other -- house, work, grocery store, restaurants... etc. It seems like a nice place to live so far. The only thing is that on this side of Lancaster City, there aren't any good ice cream shops!
