I moved from living more in Denver to being in Lakewood Colorado recently and I have enjoyed the move so far. I was able to find affordable housing, and a job quite easily here. There is plenty of access to businesses, grocery stores, and restaurants. The area is kept clean, homelessness is less common than the rest of Denver here as well. There are special programs in place that actually help these people get off the streets here in Lakewood. I have felt safer moving to Lakewood and my overall standard of living improved as it was more affordable than where I was previously, in Salons Lake CO. Thank you!
I looked at apartment listings in January and thought it would be a good place to try to relocate to. I was able to get a job quickly but then everything else has been horrible. I've been here for a month, unable to rent an apartment. They deliberately stall until the end of the month so that a prorated rate is not possible but instead the entire next month additionally to their very high deposits of 2 and 3 times the rent for imperfect credit. I earn money but even though I had $4000 when I started this journey, I've been forced to waste it on a hotel. I tried the motels here, they were the filthiest and most hostile I've ever experienced in my life and I felt completely unsafe there, so that's why I'm in a hotel that I really can't afford for this long.
Going to the grocery store is also a hostile experience as most of the people here are very rude, don't look before backing up and then scream at anyone in 'their' way, the employees are also hostile.
I think I need to move again.

Honestly moving to Lakewood has been the exact opposite of what I thought it would be. I don't feel welcomed by the people I had befriended before moving to the town. I have ridiculously loud neighbors that my leasing company won't do anything about and are ignoring my noise complaints. Everything is pretty expensive and my vehicle has been broken into because the leasing company doesn't keep up with maintaining our gated garage door for people who pay for reserved parking spots. I came from a military town where things were very structured and organized, coming to a large city where its pretty much the exact opposite has been difficult to adjust to. I hope to leave Lakewood when my lease is up to go to a smaller city.
