Southwest Leadership Academy is a public charter school established in 2006. We serve over 600 students, primarily from the 19142, 19143, and 19153 ZIP Codes. 85% of our students are first or second-generation African and Caribbean immigrants, and 18 languages are spoken in the homes of our students.

Southwest Leadership was recently recognized as a Beating The Odds school in a longitudinal study authorized by Elevate 215. The longitudinal study found that our students learned 20.4% more in each grade than comparable students using a nationwide data set. It also found that our students demonstrated .33 grade levels of growth more than comparable students in that same National Data Set.

At SLA we take a strengths-based approach when working with our students and families. We are working to build a school community that is physically, intellectually, and emotionally safe, trauma-informed, and culturally competent to meet the needs of every child that walks through our doors.
