    Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is a historic institution that carries on the rich legacy of Paul Laurence Dunbar in his hometown. Dunbar was an American poet, novelist and short story writer in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Today, the school continues the prolific writer’s mission to give voice to the voiceless by providing a place for students who are seeking their voice.

    Excellent faculty and staff strive to serve students where they are and take them to where they need to be. Currently, ten College Credit Plus courses are offered to allow students to earn college credits for free while in high school.

    Students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of pathways, including Biotechnology, Arts & Communications, Health Sciences, Engineering & IT, Agriculture, Sports/Fitness/Wellness, Content Creator, and DPS University.

    College Credit Plus

    Dunbar High School offers College Credit Plus, which allows students to earn college credits while in high school. In place of regular high school courses, students can take college-level classes in their school, online, or at Sinclair Community College's campus. Students can earn enough credits to graduate from high school with an Associate Degree.
