New Trier High School's Northfield Campus serves freshmen only, with upperclassmen attending the Winnetka Campus. This unique "one school, two campuses" setup allows the Northfield Campus to focus on students' transition to high school and the unique needs of 14- and 15-year-olds while still offering the same rigorous curriculum and depth of opportunities. Those opportunities include: 7 languages taught; award-winning performing and visual arts programs; STEM programs including engineering, architecture, and culinary; business education; and unique academic classes designed within each department. The Freshman Success program helps students with study and organizational skills.

To promote a culture of belonging, New Trier has a nationally recognized student advisement system; more than 150 student clubs; 35 sports at multiple levels; extensive student services; free on-site tutoring; and dedicated post-high school counselors to chart students' individual pathways after high school.
