Really amazing academic programs that really challenge your critical thinking skills. The admin. really cares about the students and mental health, and there are so many resources for one to succeed. Also, there are numerous clubs and community engagement opportunities for students to engage in with kind and welcoming faculty advisors. The teachers are also very open to help and really care about the students working there. One amazing thing about Milton is that our Upper School Principal teaches a class in order to get to know students better, and a lot of the admin. knows students on a name to name basis. The homework is manageable and allows for students to excel in extracurriculars. The students are not competitive in the sense that they try to bring each other down, but instead, the Milton environment is one of lifting people up!
I am a senior, and this is my second year at Milton. I am also international. The experience at Milton exceeded all my expectations - rigorous academics, numerous athletic and extracurricular offerings, and people from all over the U.S. and the world. Generous financial aid, also. Some things that could still improve: Math department courses and teachers, food at Forbes Dining Hall (manageable but doesn't always taste amazing), and the state of the dorms (some dorms really need some renovation). But overall, I love Milton, and I am happy I am here!
I loved the opportunities that it presented to me. Milton took a lot to get used to since I came from a public school where we were just taught from textbooks and had almost no resources. I'd definitely say that Milton gives an academic experience that can't be found elsewhere. The school culture is very diverse, and you will definitely find a group to fit into. Overall, Milton's community is left-leaning politically and highly aware of social issues. Milton has a bit of white elitist culture, but only if you hang out with those types of students. There is definitely a sexual harassment problem, especially caused by male athletics students. There are really annoying dorm checks every semester that completely violate your privacy and go through every bit of your things, but it is a raffle for 2 people per dorm so I haven't personally gone through it yet. Milton is well-rounded, but I personally would love it if Milton put a bit more emphasis on STEM and its music program.
