I am very proud of our schools in Hermosa. My two sons have a combined 16 years in the Hermosa school system. My oldest son said his Hermosa educational experience fully prepared him for his first year in high school. My 5th grader continues to thrive academically and loves the STEAM programs. I gravitate to the strong sense of community at our schools with the active parent involvement. The amazing and caring teachers and staff have always set our school apart. With the recent development of the new school facilities, HBSCD is truly The Best Little Beach School!
The HBCSD is small, yet full-service in terms of its academics, administration, teachers, programs, and staff. I've had two students go through the district, four years apart, and had great experiences with both kids. The Covid years were difficult for all school districts, but HBCSD was quite nimble and able to get back to near-normal very quickly. The most unique feature of this tiny district is that all the public-school kids go to school together. They share a strong bond by the time they "graduate" 8th grade and move on to high school. We'll miss the friendly, knowledgeable staff but also know that the public schools in Hermosa Beach have a bright future with the current district administrators, teachers, school board, and entire staff at all three campuses.
I had three children go thru the Hermosa Beach School District. We moved here when my oldest was just beginning school. The front office staff walked us thru the entire process of enrollment, made it so easy for us as we began our educational journey. From the maintenance staff to the Superintendent, we have interacted with them all over the years and could not be more pleased with everything. We appreciate them all.
