    From Alabama School of Mathematics and Science

    The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is our state's only fully public and residential high school for 10th-12th graders seeking advanced studies in math, science, computer science, and the humanities. ASMS serves students from all 67 counties. Tuition, room, and board are free thanks to funding from the state. ASMS is one of the only Cognia STEM-certified schools in Alabama and is considered a STEM legacy school in the U.S.

    ASMS is set apart by its accelerated curriculum, college-level academics, living-learning environment, leadership opportunities, and research focus not available anywhere else in the state. ASMS consistently improves students' educational outcomes from enrollment to graduation, boosting their standardized test scores, grades, college admissions offers, scholarship packages, and more. Our 30+ years of graduates exemplify this success as they lead the way in sectors such as engineering, tech, cybersecurity, research, medicine, government, law, and education.

    ASMS offers academic opportunities not available to high school students anywhere else in Alabama, including a focus on research. Through our Research Fellows Program, students work with a faculty mentor to complete a research project and present it at the school's annual Spring Research Forum.
