From School of Public Affairs
The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at American University was born in 1934, as a training solution for federal workers supporting FDR’s New Deal. This vision catapulted SPA to a top-tier school, bridging theory and practice while inspiring change at every level. To this day, we seek students who exemplify this spirit—future leaders, political advocates, and policy change-makers––and prepare them to address the world's most complex challenges in public policy and administration; government and politics; and justice, law, and criminology.
