So far, I have had a few problems with the university. I understand the goals of the institution and the objectives that the university strives to achieve. The diverse climate in the school is one of my favorite things about the school! The multiple backgrounds of students across campus and the specific groups have allowed me to witness and work alongside different people and similar people as myself. It has made me feel much more welcome and accepted. The only issue I hope to see improvement on within the next couple of years is the school's informational side. When searching online, I am hunting for information and having to call to find out things that I should easily be able to locate. These can include courses, financial aid, and teachers' profiles. If there was an easier system to figure out this information or to be able to view all of the information in one location, the process of application and viewing my situation would be much simpler and easier to perceive.
I’m a non traditional, returning adult student as an in-state transfer student at UNM. I just finished my first Summer term (all online!) and while it is fast paced, set at 4 week intervals for the summer term only, I enjoyed it!
Overall, I really like UNM. From the application/acceptance/enrollment process to attending classes, there are so many staff and resources available, at any point, to ensure you have a successful time from the very beginning. It’s been almost 20 years since I last attended a traditional university (I’ve since attended other types of continuing educational formats) and it has changed for the better, and I’m so thankful that everything is insanely easier than it was back then! Looking forward to the rest of my time here at UNM. Go Lobos!

I love UNM! The studio arts program is strong. Through the College of Fine Arts, I have found opportunities to show my work, publish writing, and connect with prestigious artists. Professors here truly want you to succeed, even if they're adjuncts. I have a work study job at the UNM Art Museum, where I'm happy to be surrounded by coworkers who are kind, compassionate, and intelligent. Working in an institution closely related to my major has enhanced my education.
Clinicians at Student Health and Counseling have been so supportive and essential to my wellbeing while I've been in school here. I also feel fortunate to have support for my disabilities through the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC).
All that said, the surrounding area isn't very safe. I get frequent text alerts from public safety about violent incidents on or close to campus. I wish I had more professors teaching studio arts courses instead of graduate students.
