This program concentrates on the Russian language. Specific course topics include philology, dialects, literature, and applications to business, science/technology, and other settings. Subtopics include Slavic languages, Baltic languages, literatures and linguistics as well as Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian languages and literatures, among many others.

How popular is Russian and Eastern European languages and literature as a major?

Each year, around 510 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 5 students obtain an associate degree in Russian and Eastern European languages and literature. In 2021, 494 students received a bachelor's degree and fewer than 5 students received an associate degree. This is relatively the same number of Russian and Eastern European languages and literature majors as there were in 2020. Russian and Eastern European languages and literature is a relatively popular major compared to other foreign languages majors.
