What is an intelligence major?

Intelligence programs focus on the principles and techniques of intelligence acquisition, analysis and exploitation. Includes instruction in intelligence organizations, the intelligence cycle, intelligence operations planning, intelligence analysis and reporting, intelligence methods, electronic and signals intelligence, operations and communications security, human intelligence management, intelligence chain of command, information exploitation and psychological warfare, and the relationship to national security policy and strategy.

How popular is intelligence as a major?

Each year, around 640 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 830 students obtain an associate degree in intelligence. In 2021, 1,260 students received a bachelor's degree and 902 students received an associate degree. This is 23% more intelligence majors than there were in 2020. Intelligence is a relatively popular major compared to other protective services majors.
