What is an environmental engineering technician major?

Environmental engineering technician students utilize basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals engaged in developing and using air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and heating systems. This includes instruction in principles of heating and cooling technology, design and operational testing, inspection and maintenance procedures, installation and operation procedures, and report preparation.

How popular is environmental engineering technician as a major?

Each year, around 180 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 550 students obtain an associate degree in environmental engineering technician. In 2021, 168 students received a bachelor's degree and 517 students received an associate degree. This is 10% more environmental engineering technician majors than there were in 2020.
