What is a construction management major?

Construction management students are taught to manage, coordinate, and supervise the construction process from concept development through project completion on timely and economic bases. This involves studies in commercial, residential, mechanical, highway/heavy civil, electrical, environmental, industrial, and specialty construction; facilities management; project planning; budgeting and cost control; logistics and materials management; personnel management and labor relations; site safety; construction contracting; construction processes and techniques; organization and scheduling; and applicable codes and regulations.

How popular is construction management as a major?

Each year, around 2,470 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 690 students obtain an associate degree in construction management. In 2021, 2,972 students received a bachelor's degree and 796 students received an associate degree. This is 5% more construction management majors than there were in 2020. Construction management is a relatively popular major compared to other business and management majors.
