Chinese language and literature is a program that focuses on the languages of China and associated dialects and literature. Course topics include philology, linguistics, dialects and pidgins, and applications to business, science/technology, and other settings.

How popular is Chinese language and literature as a major?

Each year, around 620 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 35 students obtain an associate degree in Chinese language and literature. In 2021, 556 students received a bachelor's degree and 39 students received an associate degree. This is relatively the same number of Chinese language and literature majors as there were in 2020. Chinese language and literature is a relatively popular major compared to other foreign languages majors.
