TAMUG is a wonderful, supportive place! It has a lot of clubs, and you'd be surprised at how many people come from different backgrounds and places all over Texas! It is a small campus, but specialized towards marine sciences and engineering students who are looking to transfer to the main campus in College Station. If you're worried about school spirit and love sports, they have that here too! We have intramural leagues for a bunch of sports, and we have midnight yell here as well! The dorms are okay, I live in albatross and it definitely the dingiest place I've ever lived, but it's not terrible! It has its own kitchenette which is nice, none of the other dorms have that either. You also get to room with one other person compared to the other dorms where you're sharing with three other people. All in all, it's a nice campus if you want small classes and it's easy to walk! It is on a small island connected to the main island, though, so the Strand isn't that far! Lots of cute shops!
Here as an Aggie has been some thing that I never thought possible where there are many good things. There are also extremely bad things that have allowed to be on this campus the fact that it takes three whole semesters for someone who commits a crime or sexual assault of any type to be prosecuted is messed up. in the racism that is allowed here at the school is really not something that others what to deal with. but despite these problems they value their traditions like nothing else and there are people here who genuinely care for you and because it’s a small campus they are able to fix some of these problems very easily. They care about her mental health and everybody pretty much knows everybody and that makes for great community it will never take away the bad but the education degree plans, the easy transfer and the diversity that they lack they end up getting by having gray things with the school and it’s very welcoming. and there are people who are here no matter what happens.
Since it is a small campus, there is not much variety as far as classes go. Typically, for my major at least, there is one professor only. As someone who couldn’t learn the way that particular professor taught, I had to stay in the class and hope for the best. This was hard for me because it affected my GPA. Overall I had a good experience with the school itself but the lack of variety is what caused me to transfer schools to better my education in a way that works for me. I would recommend this school, however I would give an advice to anyone to understand the way you learn first and see if this environment encourages that.
